Summary

Unit 9 starts with an introduction to the various applications of advanced fabric structures, and then discusses the application of preforms for the reinforcement of composite materials in various parts of aircraft and space vehicles. The appropriate preform structure and fibre type used are discussed, pointing out advantages and possible drawbacks. Future applications of these materials in aerospace engineering are also analyzed.
