Summary

Unit 15 is concerned with the applications of fibrous structures, including nonwoven structures, in tensile surface structures and nano web applications. Tensile surface structures are also known as tensile membrane structures or textile architectures and various examples of their application in buildings are considered. A variety of applications of 2D nonwoven nano web structures are studied, including the filtration industry, electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding, electrical conductors, thermal and lightning protection, energy field in batteries, photovoltaic cells, polymer electrolytes, membrane fuel cells and advanced structural composites.
